Literature Review

BBC news 2005 editor states a team from the University of Aachen in Germany, aim to find out how human brains react with violent computer games, follows on from other research, showed that people who played violent computer games are reported having high levels of aggression, assaults and robberies.
Dr Niels Birbaumer 2005 states playing games regularly would strengthen certain circuits in the brain, and when the player faced violent in a real life situation may be more likely to react aggressively, however Dr Guy Cumberbatch 2005 states if the findings of this study were the same as when people responded to imaginary situation, is no different when people seeing violence in films, he added the instinct to punch someone is pretty basic, he don’t think this can be influenced by playing computer games.

BBC news 2006 editor states the University of Missouri-Columbia are doing a study to find out how the human brain response to different images, when a real-life violence images are shown to the people who played violent computer games were find to have diminished response, and have natural response to other images. Bruce Bartholow 2006 states the study above show the effects of violent games to the brain that predict aggressive behaviour, people who play a lot of violent computer games become desensitised to violent images, but Jonathan Freedman 2006 argues all we are really getting are desensitisation to images and this does not show is relates to real-life aggression.
Professor David Buckingham 2006 states there still no consensus on whether violent games caused aggressive behaviour or just played by violent people, there are many factors that can lead to violence, so it is hard to say it is because of one thing. He think parents should talk to their children to make sure they realise this is a joke, children are good at telling fantasy from reality, but parents should be discussing this.

Stev3 2007 has a different view point he states his opinion of games is just show the part of human nature. He believe human nature is violent, therefore games are not making peoples more violent, is just to let player expressing it in a relaxing way.
Angeee111 2008 states computer game does not affect how the player act, family and friend are much bigger influences.
Octoparrot 2008 states people who are too young are mostly affected by the games, that why games have minimum age’s and Littlegreengiant 2008 states violent video games are suitable for the ages they are rated, but the problem is when younger children are playing these games, he think that parents should be checking what games their children are playing.
Dannym 2008 states after played GTA 4, he does not feel the urge to go out and shoot people, however je suis formidable 2008 states it has been proven that violent games affect how people behave, mainly young children, he read from a magazine since Grand Theft Auto came out there has been a rise in ‘Cool crimes’ possibly copied from the game. Younger people does not realise that it’s just a game and can do stupid things.
